VERY IMPORTANT!
Youth (child or teen) drug testing MUST, by necessity, be very different than the “workplace” or “corporate” testing performed on "employees"!  Here are five (5)reasons how and why...

REASON #1-  In the corporate world, it is legally essential that there be a well-defined connection between the illicit substance ingested and ‘impaired ability” on the job. Therefore drug test results for an employees will show "positive" for drugs only when AT OR ABOVE a certain "cut off" level.  The cut-off level varies, depending on the drug tested.  However, it is always a level which has already been legally established (for that particular drug) to be one which physically or mentally "impairs" an employee.

As an example, let's look at employee drug testing for "Marijuana-use".  The laboratory will report such a test as "positive" ONLY if it tests out at or above a level of "50" nanograms per milliliter (50 ng/ml) of urine.  If the lab test shows a level of ONLY "49" ng/ml of urine, the lab will report that drug test of any employee "negative".  Yes, there was evidence of marijuana in the employee's system, however, because the level was below the legally established cut-off level, the employee is reported as negative...and they keep their job.

However, as a parent, would you be happy to learn that your teenager's test came out at a level of ONLY "49 ng/ml"???  We don't think so!  It still means they were (or are) "smoking pot" doesn't it?  Duh...Yes!

Therefore, Health-Tests
Direct suggests that teenagers always be tested for all drugs - not just marijuana - at the lowest detectable level possible...and NOT at the "at or above" level used in business and Industry employee drug testing.  To that end, Health-Tests Direct has made special testing arrangements with the lab, and ALL the drug tests that we offer to you below for testing your children will do that!

REASON #2-  Standard workplace employee tests do not test for all the drugs teens commonly use, such as MDMA (the kids call it "Ecstasy") and Ketamine (an animal tranquilizer used by veterinarians that the kids use to "zone out" and call "Special K", after the Kellogg's cereal of the same name).  Testing for these and other Methamphetamines is, however, included in all the drug test kits below for you to test your children.

REASON #3-  Kids who regularly do drugs also know about “adulterating” a drug test, or, gorging themselves with water so that the test will not show positive results.  Since our drug tests go to a forensic laboratory, adulterants or “intentional hydration” will be caught and reported to you.  The lab report will let you know that your child "hydrated" or "adulterated" their specimen to avoid a positive result.

REASON #4-  The so-called “Immediate Results” or "instant" drug test kits promoted and sold all over the Internet are all designed for duplicating the same high cut-off levels (i.e., too high when testing teens and youths) that are used for employee workplace testingFor that reason, "instant" test kits are NOT recommended for testing your children.  Our sister-company, OHS Inc., sells these kits, but ONLY for EMPLOYEE drug testing, NOT for testing youths (children and teens).

REASON #5-  Hair Testing screens for drugs over a greater window of detection time (usually 90 days) but does not detect some types of drugs popular among kids today.  We recommend that if you want to use a hair test to check for "past 90 days use", that you ALSO use a urine test to test for "recent" use.

The Parents-Taking-Action "Youth" drug test kits shown below come with pre-paid mailing envelopes, for shipping your child's specimen to the lab.  Results are available within 24 hours of specimen receipt at the laboratory (results for hair tests usually take 24-48 hours longer to report).  Instructions are included for parents to collect the specimen (urine or hair) themselves at home, or, there is a toll free number to call for assignment to a nearby CLINIC that will collect the specimen for you.  (If collected at a clinic, there is a $20.00 charge to cover the clinic urine collection fee.  Twenty-five dollars ($25) is the clinic fee for collection of any hair specimen.)

Please note that all three "Youth Kits" described below undergo "special testing" of your child's specimen at the lab.
"Special testing" means that we instruct the lab to test your child's specimen for all drugs listed below at under the cut-off levels that are used when testing an employee's specimen.  Obviously, this means that a "positive" test may result from the specimen of your child that would NOT test positive at an employee (i.e., higher) cut-off level.

Also, tests using the "Youth Kits" below may reveal the presence
in your child's system of one or more illicit drugs for which employees are almost never tested!  As a truly concerned and caring parent, this is exactly the type of drug test that you should want for your child-  i.e., FULL DISCLOSURE of any illicit drug use, no matter how "little" the amount present in their system!

DRUG TESTING KITS QUANTITY:  Although we do not require it, we strongly recommend that you always order at least "five" (5) kits at a time.  Why?   Many drugs are "out of the system" in only hours. Drug testing can be dangerous if a parent uses one test and concludes that his child does not use drugs. We suggest three unannounced tests with negative results. It is also wise to keep a kit "on-hand" for immediate use for "reasonable suspicion". Use it when you observe signs of abuse or are aware that your teenager has been in the company of users or comes home past curfew. Often just knowing that a kit is available to be used in such a situation is a strong deterrent. The fifth kit is to have on hand while waiting for delivery of your reorder.

Drug test kits should be "on-hand" at ALL times in the home.  Making certain your children are aware that the tests kits are always "at the ready" - is an excellent drug-use prevention measure.

DRUG testS (SCREENS) FOR DRUGS AND ALCOHOL ARE NECESSARY FOR THIS REASON:
To confirm known use or suspected use of drugs of abuse, including alcohol.

WHO IN YOUR FAMILY SHOULD BE TESTED FOR DRUGS AND/OR ALCOHOL ABUSE?

(1) Anyone with known or suspected physical indicators of drug or alcohol abuse
(2) Students with newly-apparent and unexplained deterioration of productivity and/or school grades
(3) Children "at risk" for drug abuse through association with peers (testing them gives them an excuse to say, "No! to drugs)

DRUG TESTING OR SCREENING FOR ALCOHOL ABUSE SHOULD BE DONE 'HOW'
and 'HOW
OFTEN'?

        ●  Drug test randomly (do NOT give any advance notice your intention to test) every 3-7 days, until "clean" (the test results are "negative").  The symptoms should be consistently absent for at least four weeks or four consecutive tests.

        ●  Do NOT make the mistake of testing once-only, getting a 'negative ('clean') result, and thinking that your child has 'stopped' using.

       ●  Immediately repeat full testing (random) cycle whenever and as often as drug-use symptoms reappear or reasonable suspicion of renewed drug use is apparent or suspected.

Always have at least one 'extra' test kit available at home for immediate, on-the-spot random testing, and, make certain your child 'knows' that you always have a kit readily available for that specific purpose.
AS LONG AS YOU ARE A STRONG ENOUGH PARENT TO FIRMLY ADMINISTER PUNISHMENT (e.g., by the loss of one or multiple everyday privileges normally enjoyed by them), the 'possibility' of un-announced, random testing - at any time, days, nights-weekends - is the best PREVENTION against regular or even infrequent illicit drug-use by your child.

DRUG TESTING YOUR CHILD INCLUDES:

Checking for a presence in their system of amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates.  Available tests can also include screening for the following drugs in addition to the five previously mentioned:  PCP, alcohol, and most of the so-called "club drugs" or "rave party" drugs that are popular with children and teenagers today.  For more information on these and other drugs, drug-abuse, and drug testing in general, please CLICK HERE.

DRUG testing  YOUR CHILD will tell you:

Through urine specimen analysis, a drug test will indicate whether there are drugs or alcohol presently in their system.  Using hair specimen analysis, a test will show whether there have been drugs (but not alcohol) ingested by the child tested for as far back as up to the past 90 days.

"How long do drugs stay (are detectable by testing) in your child's system?"
