Synonyms: Measles Antibodies

Why It Is Done

IGG = previous infection

To determine if you have sufficient rubeola antibodies to protect you from the rubeola virus; to verify a past infection or detect a recent infection

Test Overview

The rubeola test is used to confirm the presence of adequate protection against the rubeola virus and to detect a recent or past infection. It can also be used to identify those who have never been exposed to the virus and those who have not been vaccinated. The IgG rubeola test (usually just called a rubeola test) is ordered on all pregnant women and those planning to become pregnant to verify that they have a sufficient amount (titer) of rubeola antibodies to protect them from infection.
