HIV/AIDS

HIV AIDS BLOOD TESTS (SCREENS) ARE NECESSARY FOR THIS REASON:

HIV blood testing is one way you can you tell if you are infected with the virus. A person can be HIV-infected for many years while looking and feeling healthy, with no signs at all of being sick.

Most people HIV infected have no symptoms and are not aware they are infected until serious complications appear. Without HIV testing, individuals go untreated, often passing along their infections.

HIV leads to the development of the disease called AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). AIDS is a disease that limits the body’s ability to fight infection. A person with AIDS has a very weak immune system, turning normally mild or rare diseases into potentially fatal conditions.

HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) BLOOD TESTING IS BEST FOR THESE PEOPLE:

(1) Anyone! Anyone can become infected with HIV. HIV is transmitted sexually, through drug use by contaminated needles, and during pregnancy from an infected mother to her unborn child. HIV can also be transmitted by breast feeding.

(2) Anyone who has been sexually active and:

Has had intercourse with multiple partners.

Is concerned about a partner’s “other” sexual activity.

Has a “new” sex partner

HIV (AIDS) BLOOD TEST- HOW OFTEN?

Many doctors recommend that all individuals who have more than one sex partner or use drugs delivered through needles should be regularly tested, e.g., every six months.

HOW LONG AFTER A POSSIBLE EXPOSURE SHOULD I WAIT TO GET TESTED FOR HIV?

The tests commonly used to detect HIV infection actually look for antibodies produced by your body to fight HIV. Most people will develop detectable antibodies within 3 months after infection, the average being 25 days. In rare cases, it can take up to 6 months.

HIV AIDS BLOOD TESTS INCLUDE:

Confidential blood draw and overnight shipment of your specimen from HTD™ to certified and accredited medical testing laboratory. WE DO NOT SELL OR USE THE “OVER-THE-COUNTER” KITS. WE USE ONLY CERTIFIED LABORATORIES IN THE UNITED STATES FOR THE ANALYSIS OF YOUR BLOOD SPECIMEN.

HIV AIDS BLOOD TEST- WHAT YOU WILL LEARN FROM IT:

If you are found positive for the HIV virus, early detection and treatment can save your life.

AIDS drugs are making a difference for hundreds of thousands of HIV infected individuals. While there is still no cure for AIDS, many infected individuals have regained control of their lives. New drug treatments have transformed AIDS into a manageable condition with some individuals having no detectable level of virus in their blood streams at all.
